Healthy life style made FUN!!!
1st grade Standard 2 Objective 2  for Health and life style
Ed Tech Standard 6

Use telecommunications efficiently and effectively to access remote information and communicate with others in support of direct and independent learning and for pursuit of personal interests. (4)

The main intent at the early grades is for students to value learning and develop the skills to gain knowledge and understand their world.

  1. articipate daily in short periods of physical activity that require exertion (e.g., one to three* minutes of walking, jogging, jump roping).
  2. Perform fundamental locomotor (e.g., skip, gallop, run) and nonlocomotor (twist, stretch, balance) skills with mature form.
  3. Develop manipulative skills (e.g., cut, glue, throw, catch, kick, strike).
  4. Create and perform unique dance movements and sequences that strengthen skills while demonstrating personal and spatial awareness.
This is important becuase health is a vital part of life. If we can show kids how many activities their are and how much fun it is to be a part of something this will help them stay fit, it will also help with gross and large motor skills. It will help with social skill and even help them to adjust to hard challenges with others.

Changing water

This is my Prezi that describes the different types of water.
Science Standard 1 Science 4
Ed Tech Standard 5
Use technology tools (e.g., multimedia authoring, presentation, web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom. (3, 4)
Science is a way of knowing, a process for gaining knowledge and understanding of the natural world. The Science Core Curriculum places emphasis on understanding and using skills. Students should be active learners. It is not enough for students to read about science; they must do science. They should observe, inquire, question, formulate and test hypotheses, analyze data, report, and evaluate findings. The students, as scientists, should have hands-on, active experiences throughout the instruction of the science curriculum.
The Elementary Science Core describes what students should know and be able to do at the end of each of the K-6 grade levels. It was developed, critiqued, piloted, and revised by a community of Utah science teachers, university science educators, State Office of Education specialists, scientists, expert national consultants, and an advisory committee representing a wide variety of people from the community. The Core reflects the current philosophy of science education that is expressed in national documents developed by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Academies of Science. This Science Core has the endorsement of the Utah Science Teachers Association. The Core reflects high standards of achievement in science for all students.

Students need to know this since there will always be a form of water around them. They will learn
in more depth about the different stages in higher levels.
Also it is just fun to learn about, and experiment with water.

Shifting Moon
What are the phases of the moon and why does it look different
when I look up at the night sky.

2nd grade Standard 1 Science objective 3

Ed Tech Standard 2

Discuss common uses of technology in daily life and advantages and disadvantages those uses provide. (1, 2)

Reflects the disciplines of science. These standards are consistent across all three grades. Each standard is further explicated by objectives and indicators.
Standard 2 is Earth and Space Science
Standard 3 is Physical Science
Standard 4 is Life Science
Science Content by Standard: Shows the learning progressions inherent in the core. The charts are organized by standard, each containing the objectives and indicators for each grade side by side.
Every kid loves to look up at the night sky and see the sun and the moon.
When you look up at the moon it seems to changed every night. Some nights it is really full and bright, other nights it is a sideways smile, and some nights their is no moon at all.
By knowing how the moon moves around the earth you understand why takes so many different shapes.
Students need to know this because it is a part of science that will help them later on in different science classes as they get older.

 Miss Wiscombe’s Class News letter

Reading: Informational Text Standard 2 Grade 3

Ed Tech Standard 6
Use telecommunications efficiently and effectively to access remote information and communicate with others in support of direct and independent learning and for pursuit of personal interests. (4)

The Intended Learning Outcomes described below reflect the belief that kindergarten, first, and second grade education should address the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and ethical development of children. While the Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade Core Curriculum focuses primarily on content and the intellectual development of children, it is important to create a classroom culture that fosters development of many aspects of a person. By nurturing development in these interrelated human domains, young people will be healthy and discover varied and exciting talents and dreams. They will be socially and civically competent and able to express themselves effectively.
The outcomes identified below are to provide a direction for general classroom instruction, management, culture, environment, and inclusion. These outcomes should be interwoven throughout the Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade Core Curriculum, which offers more specific and measurable standards for instruction.
Understand and use basic concepts and skills.
  1. Develop phonological and phonemic awareness.

  1. Decode, read, and comprehend written text and symbols.
  1. Develop vocabulary.
  1. Develop reasoning and sequencing skills.
  1. Demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  1. Observe, sort, and classify objects.
  1. Make and interpret representations, graphs, and models.
  1. Recognize how content ideas interconnect.
  1. Make connections from content areas to application in real life.

This will help the students to understand what will be happened for the week. Also it will be a great help for the parents as well so that they can be more evolved with their chills learning experience.

Getting to know your animals

The standard is Standard 2 Object is Social studies 3
Ed Tech Standard 6

Use telecommunications efficiently and effectively to access remote information and communicate with others in support of direct and independent learning and for pursuit of personal interests. (4)

This is my Storybird book, It will show different animals from different parts of the world.
I wanted to share a story about some of my favorite animals and where they live. I always enjoyed story time in school and I want my students to enjoy it too.
Use illustrations and details in a story to describe its characters, setting, or events.
  1. Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.
  2. Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas.
  3. Analyze how and why individuals, events, and ideas develop and interact over the course of a text.
This is important because children need to have a good imagination, by reading to them and having
them pick out books to read on their own it will spark a love for learning.  This will also help them to have a good imagination that will help them later on in life.

The First Thanksgiving

Glogster

Social Studies - Kindergarten
Standard 1 Objective 1
Ed Tech standard 5
Use technology tools (e.g., multimedia authoring, presentation, web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom. (3, 4)

Young children possess a keen sense of curiosity and a drive to make sense of their expanding world.
Kinder-garten, first and second grade students have the capacity to understand themselves and the
cultures that surround them.  In order to prepare students to be knowledgeable citizens and leaders in
a diverse and fast-paced world, the K-2 Social Studies Curriculum helps students recognize various
cultures, traditions, and belief systems and their contributions to our society.
The First Thanksgiving. The purpose of this was to help young children learn about the first Thanksgiving and how we should be friends with everyone and be kind to every one. The big idea was that the Pilgrims were not able to harvest any crops that winter and they had to be friends with the Native Americans to survive the winter.

Home work for my Childhood class.

Reading: Informational Text Standard 6
Ed Tech Standard 3
Discuss basic issues related to responsible use of technology and information; and describe personal consequences of inappropriate use. (2)
The Standards set requirements not only for English language arts (ELA) but also for literacy in history/social studies, science, and technical subjects. Just as students must learn to read, write, speak, listen, and use language effectively in a variety of content areas, so too must the Standards specify the literacy skills and understandings required for college and career readiness in multiple disciplines. Literacy standards for grade 6 and above are predicated on teachers of ELA, history/social studies, science, and technical subjects using their content area expertise to help students meet the particular challenges of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language in their respective fields. It is important to note that the 6–12 literacy standards in history/social studies, science, and technical subjects are not meant to replace content standards in those areas but rather to supplement them.

Distinguish between information provided by pictures or other illustrations and information provided by the words in a text.

This will help them to pull the information out of papers that is vital but still injoy the novital information that they read as well.
